Simple Saturday

As summer comes to an end I spent the day enjoying some of the simpler things life has to offer. Such as....
*Garage saling with the husband and Stephenie...
*Discovering great treasures at those garage sales!
*Drinking wine in the middle of the afternoon with Erin...
*Listening to Noah's musical talents..
*Smooching Logan's kissable cheeks...
*Talking to the momster on the phone...even though we talked yesterday...
*Enjoying a dinner of baked salmon, salad and breadsticks with Adam...
*Driving out the road while singing to our favorite songs...
*Chasing Rosco around the baseball field in the rain...
*Discovering cherry limeade....
*Snuggling up to a good book and my pets in my cozy little home....ah, life is good.
How did you spend your Saturday?

One more week of freedom =)

This summer has FLOWN by! We were blessed with amazing weather in Juneau for most of the summer, had an unbelievable honeymoon in Australia, got to show off our little town to 4 great visitors, got to spend time with my brother, Erin & Chance and had the opportunity to perform a wedding ceremony for our two wonderful friends, Matt & Danielle. We could not have asked for a better summer.
Our living room is still in chaos due to the work Adam is doing on the floors in the master bedroom. He's close to finishing them and they look amazing. Most of this was a self-taught project and he's definitely worked out a lot of the kinks that he had on the living room floor last summer. We should be able to move our furniture back into the room before school starts. I can't wait to get settled and organized again!
We have about one more week until school starts. Teachers go back on the 26th and the kiddos will come on the 31st. Adam and I will start going into our classrooms next week and getting things ready. We're both looking forward to this coming year. Adam has a great teaching partner, she's laid back, fun and can keep him organized!!!! I get my own classroom where the kids will come to me rather than me having to lug my stuff to every room! We're off to a great start and hope this will be a fantastic year!

Congratulations, Matt & Danielle!

We just got back from our wedding adventure in Seldovia and had such a great time!
We hit the road at 5 a.m. Tuesday morning and headed to Homer to catch the ferry. The sun was coming up and it was a beautiful drive through the Chugach National Forest.
We made it to the ferry terminal at 11a.m. and met up with Matt & Danielle. The ferry ride took about an hour and it was great catching up with the soon-to-be Bride & Groom.
That evening we had dinner with the family at a little place called the Tidepool. It was an AMAZING dinner! The choices were prime rib with vegetables and potatoes or halibut with couscous. I opted for the halibut and Adam tried the prime rib. The halibut was wonderful and the prime rib was HUGE. The Tidepool definitely knows how to cater a meal.
The next day we headed to Outer Beach for the wedding. Unfortunately, it was sprinkling but this didn't stop the adventerous couple from having their ceremony outside. The beach was lined with Fireweed, Somewhere Over the Rainbow was playing from the iPod and Danielle looked amazing in her wedding dress. It was a beautiful ceremony and we were so honored to be a part of their special day.
After the wedding we headed out to the hangars where we were supposed to catch our flight on a small commuter plane. Unfortunately, not many planes were flying because of the weather. We waited around for about an hour but our plane wasn't able to fly. There was another guy who was waiting to get out of Seldovia as well. His name was John and he was quite the character. He'd been sleeping on his ex-wife & her new boyfriend's floor and was bound and determined to leave Seldovia that day. As I was calling around for a water taxi he got on the phone with another air company and sweet talked them into picking us up.
We ended up flying with Homer Air in a plane that holds 5 passengers. As we were loading the bags and people the plane tilted back on its tail. The woman sitting next to me holding her two little dogs saw the worried expression on my face and told me that was "normal".
Thankfully, we made it back to Homer safe and sound and got back in our car for the drive home.
What a great wedding adventure. We really enjoyed getting to know Matt & Danielle's families. They have such great parents and siblings. We instantly felt welcome and were treated as part of the family. The town of Seldovia was adorable and we can't wait to go back and visit again.

more of Anchorage

Yesterday I spent the day in Anchorage with my friend Amanda. It was great to see her again. We shopped, ate Thai food and went for a walk. It's always nice getting to see old friends again.
Today Adam and I drove into Anchorage for some some shopping. We managed to walk out of the 5th Avenue mall without a thing! We stopped at Boston's pizza for lunch, Adam misses his Boston's pizza! Afterwards, we went to the Diamond mall and managed to do a little damage at Forever 21 and The Gap (did I say We??? It was actually just me). We also went to Value Village where Adam found some pretty funny t-shirts.
Tonight the boys went out and the girls stayed home with the baby. We did our nails (and Chance's nails -guess the boys should've taken him with them, huh?) and watched a movie. It's been fun getting to hang out with Erin and Chance.
Adam and I are planning on driving to Homer around 5a.m. in order to catch the 11:55 ferry. It'll make for a long day but it'll be great to see Matt & Danielle. The wedding is tomorrow afternoon and we're hoping for sunny skies! The ceremony speech is done and I was able to find a dress and shoes...I think we're set!
I'm excited to visit Homer and Seldovia~I will definitely be taking lots of pictures of Seldovia and posting them soon!

Anchorage

We made it to Anchorage! It was a bit of an ordeal GETTING here and if Adam and I believed a bit more in signs we probably wouldn't have gotten on the plane at all. Here's a run down of our pre-flight missery...
1-Tristan gets pulled over by the cops... Can't find insurance card...Is told that not carrying an insurance card is illegal and could cost me 300 bucks. Luckily, the cop was in a good mood that day and let us off with a warning.
2-Get to the airport and we're told that AK airlines doesn't accept collapsable kennels. We have two choices; 1. Go to Fred's and get a new kennel or 2. pay 75 bucks for a kennel they have available. We end up paying the money and getting Rosco a "new" kennel that happens to have "Hi my name is Emma. My final destination is NV" written on it.
3-Adam gets patted down by the security guard for "looking too serious".
FINALLY, we're on the plane and it's smooth sailing from there.

Josh, Erin and Chance picked us up at the airport and we went to the park to let Rosco and Chance run around a bit. Afterwards, we met up with Erin's parents for dinner at Red Robin.

Last night Adam and I babysat while Erin and Josh went out. We had fun playing games with Chance and ordering pizza from Pizza Hut. I've missed my stuffed crust pizza!

Chance is just about the cutest thing in the world. He gets super excited and rowdy late at night, calls everyone "buddy" and has the cutest giggle in the world. Josh and Erin better watch out..We might be smuggling him back in Rosco's kennel =)
